We recently received an email from Anna (assumed name) a young lady who’s been a regular guest for several years. Anna’s words bring significant encouragement in our work in serving our young homeless community. Here are a few excerpts from her email.
- When I first came to Hosea’s, I was at my lowest. I was homeless, caught up in drugs, and honestly didn’t see much hope for myself. I didn’t have anyone, and I didn’t really care about anything anymore. I was tired — physically, mentally, and emotionally. But walking through those doors was the first real step toward changing my life, even if I didn’t know it then.
- From the very start, you treated me with respect — something I wasn’t used to at all. You didn’t look at me like I was broken or lost. You looked at me like I still had a chance. That meant everything. Nobody had ever really done that for me before.
- Thank you for seeing me when I couldn’t see myself. Thank you for treating me like a person when I felt like nothing. Thank you for helping me become someone I can finally be proud of.
Every day our staff strives to bring respect, love and hope to every young person who walks through our doors. Overwhelmingly the young people we serve have experienced abandonment, abuse, neglect and all kinds of trauma. They enter our doors without much hope and are truly lost as to how to move forward with their lives.
At Hosea, we have hope for every young person we serve! We strive for our Resource Center to be a “Beacon of Hope” for our young homeless community. From a hearty meal to clean clothes and a shower, to counseling, friendships and compassionate support, we hope that each young person will in some way be encouraged to keep moving forward, to keep fighting for a life of health and purpose.

Not every young person we serve will be able to break through their barriers like Anna, and it’s heartbreaking to see so many of our guests struggle with addiction, dysfunction and mental health challenges. But we’ll keep loving, serving and encouraging, knowing that many will indeed break through their barriers and become self-sufficient.
We are 100% funded by private donations, we receive no government monies. Hundreds of individuals, businesses, churches and private foundations partner with us. Will you also consider bringing hope to our young homeless community and join with us in this effort? With your financial partnership we can continue to serve and assist our young guests in moving forward, and break the cycle of homelessness and despair.
Thank you for your consideration!
