Volunteer Opportunities

A brief list of growing volunteer needs here at HYS:

Volunteers can help in any of the following ways:

1. Weekly at the Drop-Being available to serve kids, serving food, preparing meals, clean up, sorting clothes, sanitizing the tables and chairs, doing music or other arts with the guests.

2. Assisting on work or job sites, helping with overnight when the emergency shelter is open, helping with neighborhood clean up and security, working with the income generating opportunities of yard sales, work projects, the annual dinner auction and solicitations.

3. The occasional need for a board member, administrative and clerical assistance and grant writing or other fund raising endeavors.

4. Development and coordination of Job Readiness Programs.

Board of Directors

Mr. David Flores:  Chair (2006-2009)
Dave has worked with youth and family both within the public school district, an adolescent shelter care facility, and as a case worker interacting with the Dept. of Human Services. He has worked with HYS since 1997. 
 
Mr. Scott Cramblit:   Previous Chair (1998-2006)
Scott is a Self Employed Contractor and has been an advocate for at-risk youth in the community through projects of outreach for years. Currently Scott is developing job opportunities and work experience for youth through HYS.
 
Ms. Ginny Cramblit:   Treasurer (1998-2009)
Ginny is a Physical Therapist for the Eugene School District and previously worked at Sacred Heart. Ginny received her BS in Psychology from the University of Oregon and her BS in Physical Therapy from Daemon College in Amherst New York.
 
Mr. Ken Harvey:   Executive Director (2005-2009)
Following a five year stint as VP of Operations for Visions Technology, (A Publisher of Educational Software), Ken became the Executive Director of Hosea and has been with them since 2004. In 1970 Ken was called to minister to youth and he still loves kids today.
Ken also serves as the President of "Shepherd's Way," a local non-profit organization that provides volunteers and benevolence throughout North America. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree at Northwest Christian College in Eugene Oregon.
 
Mr. Mike Langley:   Center Director (1997-2009)
Beginning as a volunteer and serving on the HYS board of Directors, Mike became employed as Center and Program Director in 1997.
Mike and his family live on 50 acres in the foothills of Oregon's Coast Range where they raise and rescue wild and domestic mustangs - which has become an important part of their ministry to needy youth and their families.
 
Mr. Richard Beswick:    Vice President (1998-2009)
Dick is the Executive Director of Campus Ministries at the University of Oregon receiving his BS from the U of O and his Masters of Divinity from Yale.
 
Ms. Jonetta Finley:    Member (2007-2009)
Jonetta has been a therapist in private practice for the past thirteen years in Lane County. She was a counselor for Christian Family Services and Founder of "The Promise Club," a center for abused children, doing some of the earliest work in child protective services in the area.
She graduated with a BA from Bob Hope University and did her graduate work at Cal State University, Long Beach. She has four children and five incredible grandchildren.
 
Mr. Dennis Percell:    Member (2006-2009)
Attorney at Law in the Firm of Arnold, Galliger, Saddack, Percell, Roberts and Potter. Dennis graduated with a BS from United States International University and received his JD from Willamette University in Oregon.
 
Dr. John Hickey:    Member (2006-2009)
John is a family emergency room physician in the Corvallis / Albany Community Clinic he received his BS from Stanford University and his MD from the University Of Washington Medical School. Family Practice residency was in Ventura, CA. His continuing education and understanding in areas involving addictions and chemistry are invaluable assets in our work with the homeless population.
